Miami MuseumsThinking of what you can do when in Miami with the kids? We have a couple of recommendations for Miami Museums, which you might actually enjoy yourself too.

Frost Science Museum

Miami Museums

Situated in Downtown Miami’s waterfront is the Frost Museum we had a short guided tour, but there is so much to see and do here and plenty to keep the young ones occupied, that you could easily spend the whole day here.

Miami MuseumsThe Aquarium is on three levels taking you from the surface habitats and creatures including birds and crocodiles, to the deeper levels of the oceans of South Florida. There are all kids of sea life, from sub tropical fish like the brightly coloured and cute ‘Finding Nemo’ fish to the hammerhead shark that you can see swirling menacingly around in an amazing circular tank above your head. Lots of interactive learning stations and information about all the exhibits.Miami Museums

Perez Art Museum

Miami MuseumsA short stroll away in the same complex at Museum Park is the Perez Art Museum (PAMM). Miami’s flagship art centre is situated close to the bridge, with spectacular views over the Biscayne Bay. The lush hanging gardens create shade and softens the hard edges of this modern blocky building, making this a lovely space to enjoy a coffee after a walk around the museum. Inside, the large modern architecture is divided into spaces to showcase temporary exhibitions as well as the permanent collections.Miami MuseumsThe collections begin at the entrance with Hew Locke’s thought provoking installation ‘For Those in Peril on the Sea’ which consists of ships and boats suspended from the ceiling and representing the waves of immigration into South Florida.

Miami MuseumsLots of interesting pieces and again plenty to engage with people of all ages. We particularly enjoyed the football exhibition ‘The World’s Game: Futbol and Contemporary Art’ which coincides with 2018 World Cup Russia, and looks at the role football plays in society and how it draws people of all nationalities together.
