Silversands
Silversands is Grenada’s newest and most luxurious resort and, while still relatively unknown, we were lucky enough to spend a couple of nights there ahead of the hotel’s first-year anniversary to experience first hand what this hotel has to offer. Silversands is the concept of Naguib Sawiris, an Egyptian billionaire businessman, whose fortune was made in telecoms. Sawiris fell in love with the island and acquired the land on Grand Anse Beach, where Silversands has been built. Local contractors have been used wherever possible as Sawiris felt it important not only to use locals for the construction, but also as an employer.
We arrived after a short transfer from the airport, having flown in from the busier and more touristic island of Barbados. However there are direct flights to Grenada with a short touch down in St Lucia. We were greeted by drivers with Tesla cars, which transported us in silent, stylish comfort the short distance to Silversands. As we glided through the entrance we pulled up to the hotel foyer and caught our first glimpse of what this resort has to offer.Silversands boasts the longest infinity pool in the Caribbean starting from the hotel foyer and tipping over the edge into the sea on Grand Anse Beach, it is visually stunning. The resort has a total of 43 rooms and suites as well as beachfront and hillside villas and has been designed to make the most of the natural beauty and light of the island, with floor to ceiling windows taking in the most magnificent views. With Grenada being highlighted by ABTA as one of 12 destinations to watch in 2020 now is the time to visit this beautiful island. The volcanic interior is a lush rainforest, verdant with fruit and nut trees giving Grenada its name as ‘The Spice Island’. We visited the nutmeg factory as well as a cocoa plantation where you can buy treats to take home. It is worth exploring the island while you are there. But, if you can’t tear yourself away from pure luxury, then there is plenty to keep you occupied at Silversands, from indulging your senses at The Spa with the Signature Silversands massage – with locally sourced Nutmeg Oil – to enjoying amazing cuisine at one of the Silversands restaurants, which include locally sourced fruits, vegetable and spices and freshly caught fish and seafood. Or hang out at the Beach Lounge and soak up the incredible view from the deck overlooking Grand Anse Beach. For more information on visiting Silversands or Grenada please call us on 01932 866565 or email cobham@travelprofessionals.co.uk
