Holiday Bond Style

So what is it about James Bond that we love? All the boys want to be him and all the girls want to be with him. Whether it’s the suave and sophisticated Sean Connery or the rugged and dangerous Daniel Craig – there is something about the glamour portrayed in the Bond movies that we all aspire to!

Apart from the fast cars and sexy women, or is that sexy cars and fast women? The Bond movies all have one thing in common and that is the fabulous locations. Whilst the former two may not be everybody’s cup of tea, the latter is definitely something we can all enjoy!

With the latest Bond movie ‘Skyfall’ due to release this month and in celebration of 50 years of Bond movies, we take a look at some of the Bond locations past and present.

Weekend in Istanbul

Skyfall showcases Istanbul, Turkey with a high speed bike chase. The Legacy Ottoman Hotel in Istanbul is the only 5 star hotel in this part of the old town, just a few minutes walk from the spice bazaar (hopefully restored after the devastation wrecked by Bond), set opposite the stunning Sirkeci railway station. It has stunning views from the rooftop bar and restaurant. The Legacy Ottoman Hotel is within easy reach of all of Istanbul’s historic sights and offers a haven of stylish luxury at the end of a day sightseeing.

Highlights of China 2012

Shanghai is also featured in Skyfall and if you are visiting China for the first time, or missed some of the famous sites on a previous first visit, then this itinerary is perfect for you. Of course, no tour would be complete without Beijing, Xian and Shanghai but the Yangtze cruise will be a real highlight!

Casino Royale set in the Bahamas

One&Only Ocean Club Bahamas

sees Bond seduce the wife of his enemy and whilst not his ‘one and only’ love, this resort is certainly very seductive, set as it is in 35 secluded acres of Versailles-inspired gardens on Paradise Island! The One&Only Ocean Club offers first class luxury, superb facilities and service second to none. Sitting alongside a breathtaking white sand beach and in beautiful surroundings, this elegant hotel is one of the region’s premier resorts.

Goldeneye Jamaica

Dr No saw the iconic Ursula Andress appearing out of the sea in that Bikini! “Are you looking for shells too?” Bond: “No, I’m just looking!” The film is shot a few yards from Fleming’s Goldeneye estate, Oracabessa, the author would regularly visit the set with friends. Goldeneye, Jamaica is Ian Fleming’s original holiday home and after a major refurbishment is now open and already proving popular with celebrities. The revitalised GoldenEye will still provide simple, contemporary, Jamaican luxury, whilst preserving the romance of its illustrious past. The beautiful estate incorporates a pristine stretch of coast, secluded beaches, extensive tropical gardens and the calm waters of a natural lagoon.

Rayavadee, Krabi – Thailand

The Man With the Golden Gun shows us Scaramanga’s island hideout, Khow-Ping-Kan, one of a chain of tiny jungle covered limestone pillars in Phang Nga Bay at Phuket, on the tip of the Malay peninsula. A remote and undiscovered paradise it is now very popular with tourists. The Rayavadee, is in a spectacular setting, accessed by boat, on a headland just off Krabi. It is located within a national park, with dense tropical foliage, limestone cliffs and fringed by 3 beaches. This is one of the most photographed hotels in Thailand!
