Gran Canaria Hotels
Gran Canaria can be classed as a “Miniature Continent” due to the variety of climates and landscapes found, an island close to Europe with a wide range of beaches as diverse as the changing sceneries it’s just waiting to be discovered! One of our travel consultants has recently returned from the island and enjoyed temperatures of 80 degrees and thinks it makes an ideal choice for a Wintersun break and making it a perfect place for families with young children during the summer months as it never gets extremely hot. The average temperatures remain very consistent throughout the seasons ranging from 26ºC and 28ºC (79°F – 82°F) in summer and between 22ºC and 24ºC in the winter months. Michelle visited several hotels and this is what she thought!
Hotel Gloria Palace Amadores 4* open since 2008 and is owned and operated by Gloria Palace hotels group, a superior hotel situated just 200 metres from a sandy beach and close to all the resort facilities. The hotel has outstanding sport & leisure facilities including the spectacular never ending (infinity) swimming pool with privileged views over Amadores Beach. There is a 35 degees heated indoor pool with different massage stations as swan necks, pressure jets, hydro beds of bubbles and micro bubbles, another pool in a quiter area for sunbathing and also a separate nudist area! The Spa centre is complete with sauna, Turkish bath, Scottish shower, shower, gym and relaxation areas inside and outside and watersports are available on the beach of Amadores.
Parador de Cruz Tejeda is another hotel I would recommend, dating back to 1930’s in Cruz de Tejeda, 35 km away from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Cruz de Tejeda lies in the heart of the island and owes its name to a cross carved in 1690 that stands at the Parador’s entrance which locals used as a reference point in the seventeenth century. The hotel commands magnificent views of the ravines and cliffs facing the ocean. It’s been fully refurbished to a beautiful standard and is very bright and modern. We had lunch here and the food was fantastic! They have a small indoor pool which leads through to the outdoor poolthat almost reaches the border of the nearby pine forest and a beautiful gym and spa.
Seaside Grand Residencia Maspalomas As the only member of Leading Hotels of the World on Gran Canaria, this luxury hotel offers you a very special holiday experience. Luxury and comfort meet tasteful design, and combine with an atmosphere conducive to privacy and first class service perfectly suited to couples. It is situated in a quiet location close to Maspalomas beach, and overlooking the island’s mountains. The pool area and restaurant are beautifully decorated and so pretty! It is a very quiet hotel, ideal if you just want to chill out and in the evenings listen to music on the piano. They also have a Wellness Centre with 9 treatment rooms.
Riu Grand Palace Maspalomas 5* has a very relaxed atmosphere. Its set in beautiful botanical gardens with direct access to the beach. All the restaurants are bright and airy and the lovely A La Carte restaurant is included in the Half Board price. It also has a small children’s pool and kids club.
