Abu Dhabi

I recently won a place on a ‘Fam Trip’ to Abu Dhabi sponsored by Etihad and Starwood Hotels, the following is a review of the airline and hotels I stayed in!

Etihad Airlines – the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The economy seats were comfortable and had enough leg room, compared to some airlines I have travelled with and we were given the choice of two hot meals.

Abu Dhabi

Le Royal Meridian – a big hotel and although very spacious the decoration is not over the top. Rooms are very comfortable and I was lucky to get a sea view. Formal restaurant and buffet style, there was a good selection and the desserts were something to be seen!

Abu Dhabi

St Regis  – Saadiyat Island – a Luxury Resort Hotel on the beach on Saadiyat Island. The rooms here were amazing and the beds very comfortable! The choice for meals is either A La Carte, Asian or buffet. There is also a pool bar and one on the beach where you can also get food, so spoilt for choice! The hotel has two pools, one for families and the other which is adult only. Staff will also bring drinks and towels to you on the beach! If you are really lucky, you may see dolphins playing out to sea!

Abu Dhabi

Aloft Hotel – in my opinion this is of a higher standard than that of a premier Inn, good as a base or if you are a business traveller on your own. There is an area where you can meet other guests, 2 pool tables and a Scalextric!

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the capital and the second largest city of the United Arab Emirates. It is a bustling and vibrant city still undergoing development. Many companies have their corporate headquarters located in the city and as the city grows, so has it’s business tourism. But this is not just a city for the corporate traveller though and there is plenty to see and do here.

Abu Dhabi

The mosque is well worth a visit and if you are partial to afternoon tea, the the Emirates Palace Hotel is a must! There is an exhibition in the hotel of the plans for the development of the city, which they hope to have finished by 2030. Also well worth a visit is Ferrari World, an under cover theme park about the history of Ferrari. It also has the World’s fastest roller coaster, from 0 – 240km in 4.9 seconds which is the same g-force as an F1 car or a jet fighter at 4.8g – plenty to see and do here and is great for boys of all ages! Check me out…
