A Trip to the USA

DAY 1 – Flying to Boston!

Flat-bed-224x300

We were lucky enough to fly business class…Yay! My seat was amazing so much space and of course my seat changed into the flat bed. Champagne was given before take-off and the food was delicious, 3 courses and proper cutlery! The BA staff couldn’t do anymore to help amazing service.

We arrived at our first hotel quite late; it was called the Nantasket Beach Resort. This was in a place called Hull which is 18 miles outside of Boston. All rooms have a fireplace, Jacuzzi bath and a balcony. Rooms were big and the beds were comfy.

DAY 2 – Whale watching, Faneuil Hall and Freedom trail tour and The Union Oyster House for dinner

I am not a fan of boats but the whale watching trip was so worth going on!! After being on the boat for an hour or so I started to feel green but then we saw a whale and all was well again.

We went to Faneuil Hall for lunch, it has loads of places where you can eat such as pizza, seafood, Chinese, burgers etc..

The Freedom Trail tour was all about the American Revolution; the tour guide was in costume and was really good even when we got soaked in the thunder storm! This is an interesting tour fun and easy way to learn about history.

Union Oyster House was YUMMY. I had lobster ravioli for starters, Salmon for main and apple crumble for desert. A very famous restaurant in Boston, lots of celebrities and important people have eaten there.

Day 3 – Free time, Amtrak to NYC, Chop house for dinner and Top of the Rock

We had free time in the morning where we walked through Boston then went shopping in Copley Place Mall, loads of shops including designer!

The Amtrak from Boston – NYC takes just over 3 hours. We travelled in business class lots of space and free Wi-Fi.

In NYC we stayed at the Sheraton Times Square. This hotel is mahooooosive and has just been refurbished! My room was on floor 43 which meant Amazing views of NYC from the bedroom window. The room was modern and a decent size, the bed was the biggest I have ever slept in, I could roll over at least 4 times before falling out the other side! The hotel is location in Times Square so you can walk everywhere as really central. You could get free Wi-Fi in the lobby and breakfast did everything from fry ups to fruit.

Chop house was delish…I had no starter, ribs for main the most amazing ribs I have ever had, so much meat it just fell off must have been from a big cow, And of course New York Cheesecake for desert.

We did the Top of the rock sightseeing attraction which is up the Rockefeller centre. The views of NYC at night were spectacular.

Day 4 – MOMA, Lunch at Columbus Circle, River cruise of NYC, Macy’s, The Red Eye Grill for dinner and a show on Broadway – Chicago

The MOMA (Museum of modern art) was a quirky place it didn’t just have your normal paintings…it had things like a snow shovels hanging from the ceiling.

We had a mooch around a few shops in the Columbus circle shopping centre, and then went for lunch. We had a 3 course meal…I had the soup of the day which was beef and vegetables…best soup I have ever had!! Main was chicken and chips and desert raspberry sorbet.

Next was the river cruise around NYC, a good way to see the NYC sights such as the statue of liberty and the freedom tower.

The red eye grill for dinner…my stomach now has expanded so I was ready for another 3 course meal. I can’t remember what I had for starters but I had sole for main which I have never tried before but defo would have again! Desert I had chocolate cake.

Everyone was really excited about Broadway…all singing and dancing in Times Square! Chicago was brilliant I would Highley recommend to go and watch.

Day 5 – Empire State Building, Wall Street walking tour, Amtrak to PHL, Reading terminal Market, Big bus tour, Dinner at Del Frisco’s and Lucky Strike Bowling.

Sooo high up The Empire State Building…I didn’t go to close to the edge! You see Stunning views of NYC from the top.

The walking tour of Wall Street was really good you see loads of different things from the New York stock Exchange to the Bronze bull.

The Amtrak train from NYC to PHL takes just over an hour. When we arrived we went straight to our hotel The Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. Once again the rooms were lovely and the bed massive!!

Then for a browse around the Reading Terminal Market. You could buy all sorts here like fresh meat/fish souvenirs, sweets, ice cream etc.

The Big Bus Tour is an open top bus which goes all over Philly, this showed me what a cool and beautiful place Philly was.

Dinner at Del Frisco’s was delish can’t remember what I had for starters but I had a steak for main…it was HUGGGGE and then chocolate mousse for desert. ! This restaurant has a massive wine cellar in an old bank vault downstairs.

Lucky strike bowling was fun…I got a strike wooohooo!!

Day 6 – Walkin

The walking tour was good, got to see the Liberty Bell and many historic buildings. Then we did a Mural Arts tour, Philly has a lot of these so saw lots of different ones.g tour of Independence Mall, Mural Arts Tour, Lunch at McGillin’s Olde Ale House, Macys, Amtrak to Washington, Old Trolley Tour and Dinner at Tony and Joe’s Sea Food Place.

Lunch at McGillin’s Olde Ale House was tasty…most of us had the traditional Philly Cheese steak sandwich.

Amtrak time…Philly to DC….my suitcase just shut!

I stayed at the Fairfax Embassy Row hotel; this hotel was very posh the freebies in the hotel room were not travel size….they were bigggg!! Beds were a normal double bed size. The Fairfax is an easily accessible hotel and there is a metro station just up the road.

The old trolley tour was wicked we got to see all Washington’s famous sights at night, the tour guide was funny and made it even more enjoyable.

Dinner was lovely I had…can’t remember what for starters…but pork for mains and ice cream for dessert. I remember the cocktails being strong here.

Day 7 – Newseum, Segway Tour, Own Time, Food Tour, Bens Chili Bowl

The newsem is a museum all about news. We only saw bits of the newseum so I would definitely go back to see it all. The sections we saw were about JFK’s shooting, 9/11 and the most iconic front pages. These were all memorable and emotional sections as we were shown headlines, news shows and artefacts of those events.

OMG the Segway tour was the best thing I have ever done…if they didn’t cost £6000 I would razz to work on one!!! The best way to see Washington! We saw it all…some pictures below. No one fell off woo!

The food tour was interesting…cracking legs off crabs to eating Ethiopian food.
Ben’s Chilli bowl is a landmark restaurant in DC, during the 1968 riots it was the only place down the street not to be burnt down. I had the famous Chilli Half Smoke and very cheesy chilli chips. The president even gets his chilli dogs from here, many famous people eat there.

Day 8 – Breakfast at Washington Hilton, Flight to Miami and then the FINALLLEE.

We had a yummy breakfast at the Hilton; the hotel looked very clean and modern. Michelle Obama was having a Luncheon there so it was swarming with secret service people talking down their sleeves!

The flight with AA was on time, legroom was good and the seats were comfy. The crew were fab!

Miami…was AMAZING! The finale consisted of a meal, us doing our presentations about our trip and a 5 min video of all the groups in action, then a massive party down ocean drive!
